A little clarity goes a long way

Your work.
Your computer.

Thumbs connects your phone to your computer. Your agents, projects, and sign-ins stay on that computer. Here is what goes where.

Your phone

Your instructions
and decisions

Thumbs relay

Forwards requests
Keeps no message copies

Your computer

Projects, agents,
and credentials

Your AI providers

Direct connections
from your computer

Your AI provider processes the requests your agents send under that provider’s terms.

The details that matter

Clear by design.

The work happens on your computer.

Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode run on the machine you connect. Your projects and agent credentials live there. The agents’ requests go directly to their AI providers.

Each phone has its own pairing.

Your computer creates a separate token for a paired phone. If you lose a device, you can revoke that device’s access without replacing the sign-ins your agents use.

The relay forwards. It keeps no copies.

Your computer connects out to the relay, and the phone uses that connection to reach it. The relay forwards requests without retaining message copies. You don’t need to open an inbound port. This connection is not end-to-end encryption: the relay operator can technically access traffic while forwarding it.

Handoffs are sealed before they leave.

When you move unfinished work to another computer, the handoff is encrypted to the receiving computer’s key. That computer can open it; the relay cannot.

Local hooks stay on the machine.

The small hooks connecting an agent to Thumbs listen locally. They are not directly exposed to the relay or the public internet.

Your data is yours to manage.

Thumbs keeps its working state in a folder on your computer. You control that machine’s backups and access. Hosted computers also follow their hosting provider’s storage terms.

Choosing your computer

A hosted computer
has a hosting provider.

If you use an invite to create a cloud computer, its hosting provider stores the machine and its files under that provider’s terms. Thumbs labels hosted computers in the app.

If your work needs to stay on hardware you control, pair your own Mac or Linux machine. Thumbs does not currently provide the agreements required for regulated workloads.
